CVS Basics

If you're new to shopping at CVS then read on to find out how to get the most for your money.

CVS

  • Sign up instore for a free ExtraCare Card, like a BiLo bonus card, and use let the cashier scan this with every purchase.

  • Then, sign yourself up online HERE to get a $4 off coupon.

  • When you buy certain products, as listed in the weekly or monthly flyer, ExtraCare Bucks, ECBs, will print off at the end of your receipt. I list the best deals with coupon matchups here at Dollar Saving Diva.

  • You can also sign up to have the weekly ad emailed to you online.

  • You will also get 2% back on all purchases, and 1Extrabuck for every 2 prescriptions purchased.

  • These ExtraCare Bucks can be used like money back into the store to buy anything you want. Some items are free after ExtraCare Bucks. For example, you might pay $4.00 for an advertised item, and then get the $4 back in the form of ECBs on your receipt.

  • You can use ECBs to buy more items that will give you ECBs and shop for practically free, or very cheap. For instance, if you have $4 ECBs to spend and buy an item that is also advertised $4 with $4 ECBs, then you will get the item totally free and still have your ExtraBucks from the current purchase.

  • You can even make money when you use coupons. Once a shower gel was advertised for $4.99 with $4.99 ECBs, making it free. I used a $1 coupon when I bought it, paying only $3.99, but I still got $4.99 in ECBs- actually earning $1.

  • Every 3 months, your 2% back from purchases will print off on your receipt, or you can print them by signing in online.

  • There are some things to watch out for with Extrabucks: When paying for items with Extrabucks, your pretax total must be more than the Extrabuck amount or you will lose the remaining balance. For example, if you total is $3.50 and you have a $4 Extrabuck, you will lose the $0.50 in ECBs unless you add another item.
